I have the hardest time falling asleep when my boyfriend doesn't talk me to sleep. And most of the time during the week he cant because he lives an hour and a half away and he has to get up for class at six, and so I just lay in bed til like 3 in the morning trying to fall asleep, and my question is...how do you fall asleep when you cant.?

I know it sounds ridiculous, and I have already grown a dependency towards sleep medications and I would rather not go through that again. And I don't want to do any sort of test.

But even before we started dating I would just wader the halls of my dorm till about 6am, then finally fall asleep.Health Question & Answer

Have your boyfriend send you a recorded voice mail/e-mail that you can play when he can't call. What you may want to do is find a relaxing CD that you can use to fall asleep because maybe it's not really your boyfriends voice but just that you need some sort of noise to fall asleep to. I feel your pain, I've fought with insomnia for my whole life, and have the same problem with the med dependency. I use different things @ different times just depending on what mood I'm in. A soothing-sounds machine is a good investment and fairly cheap, you can get them for under $30 at most stores. A long, hot bath relaxes me and I go right to bed afterward (make sure you do go right to bed, I've made the mistake of trying to do a few things first, then the effect wears off!) A decent-sized glass of wine at about 8 30pm has done the trick. And yes, not being disgusting but masturbation has helped on numerous occasions. also make sure you don't have ANYTHING caffeinated after noon on any given day. Sometimes just one or 2 of these things has helped, sometimes I need to have a glass of wine in the tub, then masturbate, get out, turn on the noise machine then get in bed.
