Is it possible that they may have a cur for diabetes?!

Question: Is it possible that they may have a cur for diabetes.?
My friend has diabetes and ever since I could remember we always saw him take his medication and watched what he ate. Lately he has been ignoring all the normal things like taking medication and we were at McDonald he usually would wait till we got home and then he would eat oatmeal his mom packed but it was a shock when we saw him have 2 double cheeses with large fries and a coke I asked him "you str8" he said yah but when we asked his mom if that OK she said No is this something to be worried about that my homeboy and I heard you can die from stuff like that if he is gonna die help a ***** out.Health Question & Answer

Yeah. Alot of people with diabetes get discouraged and ignore what they're supposed to be doing. I learned that the worst thing you can do is ask a diabetic if they can eat something. Even though you're trying to help, it just gets irritating and discouraging. There's no cure as of yet, but controlling your diet and exercise, taking meds, and following the docs orders are pretty much the best ways to handle yourself. I'm afraid to say that your friend may not come around until something happens to make him see what this is doing to him. Hang in there, don't force or nag him, and just be there for him. It's hard, I've been on both sides, but in the end, it's his choice.Health Question & Answer

If he takes the right amount of insulin for the food he eats there is no reason why he can't have 2 double cheeses with large fries and a DIET coke. It isn't the best food for anyone, but once in a while it is ok, IF he takes the right amount of insulin for it. If he's not taking insulin and eating all of that food, he is heading for trouble.Health Question & Answer

unless your friend is taking his medication he shouldn't be eating that kind of stuff unless his blood sugar is under control, but then only once in awhile is ok and certainly not two hamburgers and definitely not regular soda. He isn't going to die that fast unless he continues to live like he is, he will wind up in the hospital first.Health Question & Answer

Type I - NO cure yet.

Type II - a healthful diet absent of refined foods and grains.Health Question & Answer

No there is no cure for diabetes at the moment, it sounds like he is going through a rebellious stage and I think it is unlikely he would listen to anyone. What you could do is try telling him how s***** he is being and then keep a watch out for him displaying signs of high blood sugar see link below and when he displays them get him medical help as soon as possible. And keep telling his mum what he is doing.good luck he sounds lucky to have you as a friendHealth Question & Answer

Pharmacies would be out of business! Unfortunately there are alot of diabetics where it is not under control because it is so expensive. That and many people do not follow a good diet for a diabetic and take care of them selves. It is hereditary with a high rate of getting it young it is more prominent in certain cultures. I worked in a Clinic/Pharmacy were alot of the patients are Hispanic and they are are in that group with a high instance of it. Many people can get their meds for free, it more of t he Dr's. and Pharmacies were aware of them. I hope someday they will find a cure!
People need to do their part in taking care of themselves also!

Hopes this gives you what it is like. I see it every day. Many times they don' have money to pay for it. A box of 100 strips can cost over $70 and sometimes people have to test 8 times a day. It can be a sad situation, but there are many diabetics that eat healthy, exercis and take their medications as prescribed live a normal lifestyle. If they don't take care of themselves, I know people that gone blind, have their legs amputated and yes die. It is not a disease that you take lightly.
