What do I have.. yellow phlegm?!

Question: What do I have.. yellow phlegm.?
I've had a cough since Christmas time (no fever). It was more or less a dry cough at the time. I was at the doctor's last week and she said it is viral and I have to fight it on my own. I figured its a cold because I've been taking cold pills and blowing my nose like crazy. But now my cough is only aggravated when I wake up and start to move around. I seem to cough a lot during lectures. It's not like a dry cough anymore, instead its all phlegm in my throat and it feels disgusting. Sometimes I cough up clear phlegm but sometimes it is yellow. What can I do to get rid of it.?Health Question & Answer

It'll clear up. The virus is making you cough. Its how it propagates itself.Health Question & Answer

First of all, get a second opinion. Yellow phlegm does NOT mean you are getting better, it means you are getting worse. A "dry cough" reminds me of what I have read about TWAR [ Chlamydia pneumoniae]-- and experienced myself. Look it up! TWAR can also cause cold-like symptoms and sinusitis symptoms. It will most likely end up as so-called walking pneumonia. Trust me, it will NOT go away by itself. The only cure is at least two weeks of antibiotics. Clarithromycin and Azithromycin are two good ones!

Good luck!Health Question & Answer
