Im having and allergic reaction to the button in my jeans?!

Question: Im having and allergic reaction to the button in my jeans.?
A pair of jeans I bought give me a rash on my stomach that burns/itches where the button is that buttons the pants together. These are my favorite pair of pants. I've never had any kind of reaction to a button in pants before. What could be different in this button.? What could I do to keep the rash from coming when I wear these pants.? And btw, IT CAUSES A RASH EVEN THROUGH A SHIRT. so I can't wear a shirt tucked in. I figured that someone would tell me to wear another shirt If I didnt say that lol.

You are allergic to nickel. Covering with nail polish is not recommended to avoid contact dermatitis. As you found out, it can go though material like a shirt or nail polish. Replace the buttons or don't wear them. It will only get worse.Health Question & Answer

Hello, you probably have a nickle allergy. Mine comes and goes from my pant buttens too. SOme things I do until it goes away is put clear nail polish over the metal. It keeps al little barrier there. I also took an old shirt that was thick an cut it into a few layers, (cause one layer isn't thick enough!) The just attach it to your jeans over the butten. I hope this helps!Health Question & Answer

Cover the button carefully with clear fingernail polish and let it dry thoroughly and see if that stops this problem.Health Question & Answer

Change the button , best to avoid skin contact with the material you are sensitive to.Health Question & Answer

Yep, it definitely sounds like a nickel allergy to me. Are you sure you've never had a similar problem before.? Often in the case of jewellery, it has nickel in it to make the gold or silver stretch farther, and is then gold plated. If you use the jewellery a lot, the gold plating may rub away and reveal the irritating metal beneath, which is why there is such a thing as hypo-allergenic jewellery. This will be the same for clothes. Perhaps you could replace the button with a purer metal, like steel perhaps. If these are your favourite pants and you wear them often, this would explain why it's suddenly started happening; the plating has worn away. If the replacement of the button is not possible and you're determined to use the pants, I often find that a normal plaster or band-aid tends to help cover the irritating metal. I hope this answers your question.Health Question & Answer
