Question: My mother in law passed away 01/23 at 8:15am from Beast Cancer. How concerned should my wife be for herself.?
My mother in law, her mother and a few other family members on my wife's side have all passed from breast cancer. They were all in their 60's. My wife is 38 now. I know she should be concerned, but when should she really start worrying.? At what age.?Health Question & Answer

I respectfully disagree with some of your responders. As a cancer nurse who worked with surgeons who specialized in breast cancer.
Yes it is a great concern, having a mother with breast cancer plays a big factor. If the other relatives are sisters it becomes more important, If the other relatives are her mothers sisters this to is important.
With that being said it does not mean your wife will get breast cancer only that she must be diligent in getting bi annual breast exams from her doctor this can usually be covered by a yearly Visit with her OB- Gyn
followed by a 6 month visit with her internist as well as mammogram . The Bra ch gene test is a bit expensive but usually the physician office can write a letter in advance of the test and have it pre approved due to your wife's family history
