Question: My friend has AML leukimia.?
She was diagnosed in may of 2008. they let her go out of the hospital, and now people can visit her w/o a flu shot. does this mean she's doing good.?Health Question & Answer

My 2yo daughter was diagnosed with AML in January 2008. She was very sick and started off in intensive care. Being allowed to have visitors does not necessarily mean she is doing good, visitors are important when you spend so much time in the hospital, as long as they are well so they don't spread illness to the patient. If they are letting her out of the hospital this is a good sign that she is doing well. Wishing your friend a full recovery.Health Question & Answer
It means she has shown enough improvement that she is ready to be allowed visitors who are well and without signs of cold fever etc. This is a step therapy as she progresses towards hopefully a remission state.
Visitors are important but only if they are well can't stress the being well part enough. For those who are sick phone calls can also be a great lift just remember she may not be up to a lengthy Visit personal or via phone.Health Question & Answer
