Jade Goody revealed that many doctors missed her cancerous tumour 4 years ago.I have lost 4 friends to cancer-?!

Question: Jade Goody revealed that many doctors missed her cancerous tumour 4 years ago.I have lost 4 friends to cancer-.?
Recently. Two of whom only received diagnosis weeks before they died, the other two only on post mortem although all had been very ill for a long time.WHY when millions and millions of pounds is given to cancer research is there such incompetence that a human being doesn't know whats wrong until it,s to late.I wouldn't expect the doctor to cure the cancer for that is unpredictable but i do expect them to find it.What are your views on this pleaseHealth Question & Answer

I feel the same,my dad was diagnosed with cancer just a couple of months before his death 8 years ago,i was only 11 at the time so i don't remember too much about it but my mum said he'd had it years, they'dcompletely missed it.Again,my mum was diagnosed in June last year, said it'd been hidden (whatever that means),she died just 5 weeks later. Was too late for both of them. The thing is though,it can lay dormant for a long time - then boom- its too late.but i agree, with all the research and all there must be a way to diagnose before it's too late.Health Question & Answer

That is what I believe is wrong with cancer funds. I believe the money should be spent on early detection of cancer by early testing. There are some tests that can be given to see if a person could develop cancer. And then kill cancer at that point before it develops.

But huge amount of money is spent on fighting cancers when they are already in the later stages and cancer is dug into the body instead of fighting it early we are fighting it after the fact.

But insurance companies don't want to spend the money on that kind of testing. So what happens to your friends happen.

I am not one to do it, but everybody needs annual check-ups. Could it be that your friends never saw a doctor until it was too late.?

I am sorry for your loss, I don't even have four friends.Health Question & Answer

Diagnosis and treating cancer is a difficult and tough business at best.
Doctors are not human and cancers can mimic many other illnesses (and vice versa!)
I had lymph cancer in 2000 and was treated with excellent for recurrent cancer a couple years later (it went away!) at the Freeport IAT cancer clinic.
They have their own ways of testing for cancer that were and still are way ahead of their time, plus treatment using refined blood proteins from healthy people.Health Question & Answer

fairness is needed, i think.
you have to compare the number of cancers diagnosed right
to those of missed.
doctors are human also and, consequently subject to errors,
enhanced by the fact that most doctors in hospitals are overworked,
tired and underpaid.

i am not trying to side with te doctors, but i think one should
\not jump to conclusions too easily.

of course it is a catastrophe if one is a victim of a medical
error,, but it can happen.

just think about all the law suits, patients going to court and
sue for astronomic sums which causes immense insurance
costs for the doctors and in many cases to not having
certain doctors ( mostly surgeons) in all hospitals.

as an example - my daughter (austrian) has been offered
any number of surgeons jobs in american hospitals and would
have been allowed to immigrate immediately with all sorts
of bonusses.Health Question & Answer

the only way to spot it early is if either your a hypochondriac or if we started getting full body health checks every 6 months!

I don't think Jade should ***** about it, how do you know it's there if you don't know to look for it.?Health Question & Answer

I suppose it would be easy to miss a cancerous growth on her!Health Question & Answer

I worked for a highly qualified medical professional once and he said that many of us walk around with cancer for years and don't even know it's there and it's only found when there is a pm. Jade's should certainly have been spotted though as she had been so poorly and had that many tests - all the clues were there. Some cancers spread so quickly that there just isn't a good outcome. We are all human and there is a tendency these days to think that we can be cured of anything and everything but we do all have to die of something. It's true there is millions poured into research and it's piling up somewhere but every time some new treatment is announced it takes years and years before it's actually put into use and the sick get their hopes built up for something that is only available to the lucky few. There is so much money but not enough specialist researchers to make good use of it. When some fancy treatment is announced there is probably so few experts in the world that have the skills to perform it. Sorry to hear about your friends but I have lost people that should still be here too. All the best!Health Question & Answer
