Exposure to a cats saliva possibly rabid but not sure/cracks on hands and fingers?!

Question: Exposure to a cats saliva possibly rabid but not sure/cracks on hands and fingers.?
I just found out my sister has been feeding a cat that was homeless. She told me she stopped feeding the homeless cat when she found another what appeared to be stray cat eating the food she set out for the first cat. I asked her why and she told me the other cat that came around eyes were watering and it was drooling or slobbering on the plates that she left out. (WHICH HAD TUNA AND ONE PLATE WITH MILK could this have caused the excessive drooling.?)

She freaked me out because she told me she threw the plates away and might have got some of the cats saliva on her hand. Her hands were cracked/split in places due to the cold winter and washing them a lot.
She said she noticed what looked like slovbber/drool on the plate.

I'm very concerned and freaking out on her because I told her that she could have exposed herself to rabies.......this was about 7 days ago or so and I'm very freaked out.

To contract rabies did the animal need to bite her or since she had cracks on her hands would that allow the virus to enter.?

We aren't sure if the cats were rabid, she doesn't know if she indeed got saliva on her hand she thinks she may have. I am freaking out being overly cautious and telling her we need to call the doctor like now. Am I freaking out for nothing.? What are the odds the virus can infect you in the way I described. Answers:
you need to catch that cat and take it to the vets to find out. if it was rabies then she needs to start with the shots and yes she could have gotten it by that. you have to be very carefull with stray animals and i would be concerned go to the vet but get that cat. now. if the cat is not eating or dirnking that is bad sign also. is the cat around they can die and then its worse if you find it take it now.Health Question & Answer
