If a persons Liver is getting smaller what does that mean?!

Question: If a persons Liver is getting smaller what does that mean.?
Answers:
The shrinking is caused by fibrosis... as the liver is damaged, it often expands for a variety of reasons. After this initial phase of damage, the liver begins to scar (a process called fibrosis). This causes the liver to begin to shrink down as the scar tissue contracts what is left of the liver tissue.

Now, if the liver was enlarged temporarily for some reason (steatosis) and then was simply returning to "normal" size, this could be fine.

Anyone knows what healthy liver looks like, if
they have ever cooked liver...it is smooth and
soft textured. When the liver develops
inflammation inside of it because the liver
cells become damaged, it will enlarge in
size and take on a spongy texture.
When the cells of the liver start to die off,
they lose the cytoplasm in them and the
liver shrinks in size and becomes hard
textured. Scar tissue forms inside the liver
then.

I hope this helps.Health Question & Answer
