SAFE SEX FOR HPV PEOPLE?!

Question: SAFE SEX FOR HPV PEOPLE.?
can you still have safe sex even if one person have HPV.?
can you prevent HPV from getting worst.?Health Question & Answer

Answers:
You can reduce your risk of transmitting HPV to a sexual partner by abstaining from sex, by finding other ways to express intimacy, by avoiding contact with any wart, and/or by using condoms correctly and consistently every time you have sex. Like all safer sex methods (with the exception of abstinence) using condoms is not 100% safe -- genital warts not covered by a condom can still transmit the virus, but condoms are still a crucial step to minimize risk for people who continue to be sexually active.

Being diagnosed with HPV does not mean that you can't have sex ever again! It is important to communicate with your sex partner(s) and give them information about HPV to make informed decisions about sexual activity. Telling a partner that you have HPV, or any other type of STI, can be a difficult and challenging experience. Some partners may react by needing some time to think about how this affects your relationship. Some partners may have a lot of questions, might want to get tested themselves, and might make the decision not to have sex for a while. It's completely normal to feel frustrated, depressed, angry, or guilty about having HPV -- most people diagnosed with an STI have the same concerns. But by taking care of your health, practicing safer sex, and informing yourself and your partners, you are taking all the necessary steps to minimize the risk of recurrences and transmitting the virus to others.Health Question & Answer

If you are diagnosed with HPV and you have been with your partner for a while, chances are that your partner already has it..so there is no need for condom use to begin..with HPV there is not ping pong effect between each person..even when one person clears it.

Condoms help prevent STI's including HIV, but HPV may not be completely protected against with condom use, since the virus lives in the skin..

High Risk HPVs which cause cancer can be prevented from getting worse by stopping smoking, limiting alcohol use, and taking better care of your body--vitamins, the correct amount of sleep, excercise, & healthy diet..also having regular pap smears can detect early changes in cervical cells.

Low Risk HPV's can cause gential warts-- they can be treated at a doctor's office to help prevent them from getting worse.Health Question & Answer

DX with high risk HPV on 2/23..awaiting a colposcopy 4/18..my doctors office gave me little to no information about this so I had to do my own research.Health Question & Answer

If you have HPV - you just have it and there is no cure. This can lead to increased risk of cervical cancer in women. Men do not suffer from it, but can carry it and transmit it. I suppose it depends on if the person you are sleeping with is going to be the only one you ever plan on sleeping with (and you NEED to be sure of this...) and that you are male. If in any doubt (of the former, not the latter :P) then always use a condom and practice safe sex. It won't get worse - your responsibility is just to ensure you do not transmit it to others.Health Question & Answer

You cannot be certain of preventing transmission with condoms, as others have said., but HPV will usually get better over time, as your immune system deals with it.

I want to clarify a couple of Lillybelle's points though. It is only some strains that create a cervical cancer risk, and though rare, sometimes men do suffer from it, including penile cancer.

No. You can have safer sex by using condoms but there is no guarantee that the virus will not be transferred to your partner. You can't prevent HPV from getting worse but you can help control the symptoms and freqency of break outs with anti-viral meds.Health Question & Answer

If you use Condoms it will reduce the risk of passing HPV on by 70%. Because the condom wont cover the whole area you can still pass it on though. Do not have sex though if you have a break outHealth Question & Answer

i think everybody pretty much has the virus anywayy, some people are carriers and some break out but it's probably a bad idea to get this sort of advice from yahoo.answers... ask your doctor to be sure....Health Question & Answer
