Question: Gestational diabetes, is it okay to eat Tuna.?
I have gestational diabetes and am trying to assess if it's okay for me to eat a small tin of flavoured tuna each day with my salad.?
the amount i eat has:
530kj energy
17..5g protein
6..2g fat (1..1g of which is saturated)
0..1g carbohydrate
315mg sodium
i'd be eating it with a plate filled with salad (lettuce cabbage carrot corn low fat cheese alfalfa)
do you know if there is a limit on how much fish you should include in diet.?

Tuna is okay to eat as part of a diabetic diet.. Canned tuna usually has a very high amount of sodium I would be more concerned with that.. I had gestational diabetes with my last pregnancy and ate tuna in moderation.. Fish in general is good for you and I don't think there is a limit you can eat..

I don't think there's a problem with eating fish and GD.. However, in general, there are some that believe that tuna is bad for pregnant women, as there is quite a bit of mercury in tuna fish (magnified up the food chain from polluted waters)..
