I had a Mitral Valve replacement 5 years ago and have had A/F for the passed 45 years. My new Mitral Valve is very noisy, I am taking lots of warfarin a Beta Blocker and an Ace inhibitor and Lipitor. Stroke is always a concern for everyone however because you have access to the drugs you should go ok. It is very hard but try not to focus on the negative, I was sure they were going to tell me that I was going to have another Surgery 2 years ago but now I know its not going to happen.
They will not open you up again so focus on breathing and stop worrying about your impending doom. You have survived Open heart surgery your a hero don't let a couple of irregular heart beats get you down. I started using lots of pillows to get my head some elevation. I now use a bean bag to get my head up and I am sleeping much better and I don't worry about them cutting me up again. 5 years on Ive had a big overseas holiday and I want to keep going.
