Not necisarily, there could have been some catalist to set it off. For example, I got my first cold sore soon after I got orthodontic braces put on, I could have gotten herpes simplex from anywhere at anytime it was just waiting for something to set it offHealth Question & Answer
Nope. I didn't have my first outbreak until my preteen years and I was born with it. It is simply caused by a trigger like broken skin for whatever reason (chapped lips), stress mostly, illness, etc. Health Question & Answer
