Answers:
The doctor (preferably an endocrinologist) should take an insulin reading (blood test).
The insulin resistant diabetic will have normal-to-high insulin levels. The lacking insulin diabetic will have low insulin levels.
There are several different oral drugs that can be prescribed. One type increases insulin production, the other type decreases insulin resistance.
If the "decreases insulin resistance" type is given to a patient with low insulin, the patient will not get better, as the patient has little or no insulin to be resistant of.
Either medicine, given to a patient with insulin resistance, will usually show some improvement.Health Question & Answer
