What's the name of the disorder in which ones fingers are under-developed,resulting in stub-like digits?!
Question: What's the name of the disorder in which ones fingers are under-developed,resulting in stub-like digits.?
Is this a genetic disorder, the result of some in utero exposure, or is it the result of some other causative factor.? Is the medical community working towards a cure.? I was wallowing in self pity the other day when I saw the most beautiful little boy smiling at me despite his not having half of his fingers--as a result of this condition. I had to cry for this young man. I just wish there was some way to stop the suffering of this kind (actually I'd like to stop all human suffering, but especially that of the young and innocent).

It is called brachydactyly. I don't know the exact mechanism that produces it, but would guess it is a developmental defect that is congenital, not hereditary. I'm not sure though. I also believe it is associated with dwarfism.Health Question & Answer
