At the moment he is in jail, after being out of prison for 8 months. We have paid over $40,000 in the last few years: lawyers, fines, money for cigarettes while in prison and even rehab He has been this way, since 8th grade. He is now 26. I have developed hives, Gurd. high blood pressure, anxiety and depression. How do I get well.? Please, someone...help!!!Health Question & Answer

I began to sob as I read your question. My husband died 12/12/05 from complications from abuse of pain medication and alcohol since age 16. I would love to share my experiences and survival with you even though I did not save him. All the things you mentioned but to the extent of 68k trying to keep him out of trouble and 3 stints in rehab. I wish I could tell you that you will find a best answer from all the responses here but I cannot. I think you should save your money and ultimately your health for yourself. If your son needs food and shelter, then provide that, but no more. No money, no bail, no handouts. He can stand on his own feet, or fall... his choice. You need to look after yourself... spend your money on some therapy or a counselor so you can relieve yourself of your guilt and move on with your life.Health Question & Answer
You definitely should join a support group with others who sons or daughters with addicts. Start online if you want. Some of these support groups are free for you to take advantage of! Your son needs help from professionals and maybe even drugs (medicine not the illegal ones). He needs to get his priorities straight, his addiction killed, and a better mind.
For you, you need to relax more. It is better to help your son out first and then try to relax because it can be challenging to relax with a messed up son. Go to a spa and such. For the high blood pressure go to a professional doctor and seek out what he thinks and get a plan that you should follow rather strictly.
