If you have anal sex with an HIV+ person, is it absolutely CERTAIN that you would contract HIV?!

Question: If you have anal sex with an HIV+ person, is it absolutely CERTAIN that you would contract HIV.?
I'm not too keen on the infection rates...

Does having sex with an HIV+ person (unprotected, or the condom broke) automatically mean you will get HIV, or is it a risk.?

And I'm talking about gay anal sex.

And no, I didn't have sex with an HIV+ person, I'm just generally curious.

Thanks a lot!Health Question & Answer

I believe there is a higher incidence/ risk of HIV infection in anal intercourse, whether it is heterosexual anal intercourse or homosexual intercourse. This is due to the risk of anal injury resulting in bleeding etc.
The safest option is to use condoms and lubrication. also having HIV tests before you have sex with anyone.Health Question & Answer

It is a risk and risk is higher than vaginal and oral sex. The risk is estimated around 1 in 100 per single exposure if your partner has HIV. The risk increases when the number of episode increases.

It does not mean you could not contract HIV first time you have unprotected sex. There is always a risk associated to unprotected sex.Health Question & Answer

One exposure carries very little chance of infection.

The receptive partner (the guy on the bottom) of course is always as greater risk.

STD's & anal injury increase chances as blood exposure is highest risk.

Even though one single exposure carries little risk, HIV tends to be more prevalent among IV drug users & homosexual/bi sexual men.Health Question & Answer

No. It is not certain. the infection rate is something like one per every one thousand exposures, but I don't know about anal sex, it may be slightly higher, but it is not certain at all.Health Question & Answer

You ask someone with a medical degree, he'll say there's a risk. A big risk. You will not absolutely certain be infected, but the chance is really big... You don't want to make the mistake.Health Question & Answer

If you don't use a condom then the odds are the highest of all the types of sex.

There isn't a 100% chance but it's pretty high.

Not worth the risk.Health Question & Answer

Gay, anal sex and the condome broke .? I would head out for the doctor for a test but, would guess I was next in line for HIV.Health Question & Answer

It's a risk. You're not guaranteed to get it, but the chances are pretty high.Health Question & Answer
