he fell off a scooter when he was 5 yrs old ,and we were wondering if this may have caused some deformity ,or is it common for a growing lad to develop this way ..he isnt affected by this in any way at all its just we as his parents are a little concerned it may be something else .can anyone put our minds at rest over this matter ..we dont want to drag him through the whole medical system unnessicarily ,but it does look very prominent on one side Health Question & Answer

It is unlikely to have anything to do with his childhood scooter incident. We are just not exactly bilaterally symmetrical ( each side is NOT a mirror image of the other). Side to side differences are common and if they are not bothering him are best ignored.Health Question & Answer

First off -- we can only give you advise, not answers(when it comes to medical terms). So, with saying that...this doesn't seem to be life threatening or else it would have already been causing him problems. Seems like you should have seen a sign of this if it was due to falling off his scooter when he was 5.

Best "advise" I could give is to get him a X-ray and make sure it isn't causing any problems and to make sure it isn't going to get any worse than what it already is... theoretically, I don't think this is a major concern.Health Question & Answer

My ribs stick out an extra few inches in the front, and come to a bulge at the bottom, on my right side. I'm not sure why, but it hasn't caused any problems for me. (besides looking funny) Unless your son is uncomfortable, I don't see any reason to get it checked out. Health Question & Answer

could be bifid rib - where a rib grows into two at the point where it joins the sternum, it makes the chest stick out a bit, look it up and see if the description fits, but no ones body is symmetrical anyway. See your gp and they may do an x ray to check.Health Question & Answer

could be Scolosis.Health Question & Answer
