My doctor said that it takes about a year or longer to have permanent damage done to your reproductive organs because of chlamydia. However, Gonnorhea is a different story. My friend has sex for the first time, contracted Gonnorhea, and four months later, she was diagnosed with PID. Chlamydia is less likely to cause PID than Gonnorhea, but the risk increases compared to someone who doesn't have it. But, personally, if you had for a year or less, you're okay. I had it for about 6 months (my fiancee slept with his ex when me and him had a rough time and split up). Once I found out, I immediately requested to get tested for PID. My gyn looked at me like I was crazy. She said that if it's untreated for over a year, then there is a chance (slim but still a chance) that you have PID. So, she did a physical exam and said that there wasn't any inflammation, redness, discharge or anything, so I'm good. PID is just an inflammation of your reproductive organs (which can be seen during a pelvic exam). If left untreated, PID causes infertility, rather than the Clamydia itself. Sorry this is so confusing! also, not only is Chlamydia curable, but so is PID. It is treated with two different antibiotics. I forgot the names of them, but it is totally curable, however, whatever damage was done can't be reversed.

So, in short, if you had Chlamydia for less than one year, you have a 99% chance of being perfectly capable of having children and no long term problems! Please stop worrying. The only thing you can do is take your antibiotics to cure Chlamydia. And next time, have protected sex! I hope I helped! =)Health Question & Answer

they say it takes awhile sometimes over a year, but that is not always the case! it can literally take a COUPLE of months to mess you up permenantly, depending on how long the person who gave it to you had the infection!Health Question & Answer
