I work in a laundry at a hospital, just started 4 weeks ago, and they have a term..."clean poop".?!

Question: I work in a laundry at a hospital, just started 4 weeks ago, and they have a term..."clean poop"..?
If some poop happens to go through the soiled loads, which are washed three times with soap and bleach in each load, it is considered "clean poo". Then, if it happens to have crumbled on sheets, blankets, gowns, or whatever it is shaken off and the linens are passed through an ironer. I am wondering how poop and puke can be considered clean if it isn't wash off and the crumblies shaken and the linen still be clean.? I would love some actual websites if there are any on the oxymoron "clean poop". Keep in mind this is a hospital and dirty things like puke and poo do happen.Health Question & Answer

i work in a hospital and come across some of this kind of linen and its awful, we can't use it for the patients so it just goes back in the wash so i know what you mean. it can't be right, i'm not surprised you are upset by this, caring for the patients is EVERYONES duty including you so stand your ground xHealth Question & Answer

I have never heard of that, but then, I've never known anyone that worked in a hospital laundry before.

It's pretty gross to think about, but it may be because of the bleach. Chlorine bleach kills nearly everything - it even kills HIV on surfaces. So it may be that if enough bleach is used, it really is "clean poop". It's still gross though!Health Question & Answer
