SymbiCort- feeling very jittery, tachycardia, and just BAD....have you ever felt this and is it normal?!

Question: SymbiCort- feeling very jittery, tachycardia, and just BAD....have you ever felt this and is it normal.?
I just started taking SymbiCort last week, 2 puffs a day, twice a day with no problems, except for some hoarseness in my voice which felt like Laryngitis.

Today I got my puffer out of the car and took 3 puffs because my asthma has felt bad.....

Shortly after I start to feel very jittery, like i'm on a caffeine high but more unpleasant......My heart is not at it's regular speed which is 60-70bpm, it's RACING....150bpm.

I'm worried, but my mom says to just relax and ride it out, it will wear off..........

What should I do.....and more importantly have you been on this medication before and felt the same symptoms as what I am experiencing right now........'

I would really appreciate your comments because this is my health and I'm not sure if what I am feeling is normal..or if it will just pass......

Thanks!

You can call your doctor and ask him to be sure, but I think the symptoms will wear off in an hour or two. As for the Symbicort, you don't sound like anyone's told you how it's to be used. First, it's not a rescue inhaler. It does not work like the albuterol you should have for sudden attacks. Use your albuterol (Ventolin, etc.) every 4 hours as needed for attacks. When you do use your Symbicort twice daily, be sure to shake it for at least 5 seconds minimum to mix the 2 ingredients it has. also, be sure to rinse your mouth and spit out the water afterward. Do not swallow it. The steroid it contains is not meant to be consumed orally, it could cause stomach problems.

Try to calm down, use the albuterol if you're still short of breath, and use the Symbicort and any other maintenance meds you have as they are directed -- that's why they have instructions.
