Generally you are right but eventually all diabetics do need insulin.Over a period of time even type2 diabetics stop producing insulin as the insulin they produce has no action on sugar.Tablets do help to sensitize their insulin to sugar for sometime.In case of infection or injury they may need supplimentary insulin for some time.Over the years the tablets alone is not sufficient as they gradually stop producing their own insulin.Health Question & Answer
