Negative emotions (like sadness, stress, anger, etc.) causes your Serotonin production to be low; when your Serotonin level is low, you are more prone to getting Anxiety, Panic Attacks, Depression, etc.

Medication like Antidepressants (SSRI - Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor) helps to boost Serotonin level.
But there are natural ways to do it without medication. There's this strange herb called "St John's Wort" - it is said to be more effective than Prozac. No, it is not for mild depression only and ignore those sayings. In fact, it does help anxiety and panic-attacks as St John's Wort works like prozac. Other natural ways will be exercise, diet, more exposure to light, etc.

The problem is that, even if your Serotonin is balanced... you have that "learned behavior" in your mind. You need to break that initial cycle to destroy that learned behavior - Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) does this. A technique that you can use without CBT will be Distraction... There are several other techniques to help cope them!
Ok, to use Distraction: Firstly, try to....

When was the last time you heard on the news or read somewhere: Woman Dies of Panic Attack!

It doesn't happen like that exactly. Panic attacks can be debilitating and raise blood pressure but they pass. People die of heart attacks or pre-existing conditions. You're really young and have been told your heart is in good shape.

Stress can cause muscle tension and leaves some people grinding their teeth at night without ever knowing it. That can lead to neck pain and sore jaws and gums. If you have sharp chest pains discuss them with your doctor but they are probably also related to stress.

I'm not saying you're imagining anything. I'm saying that emotional pain can weaken the body's immune system and cause us to have all kinds of aches and pains. I'd try some stress reducing activities such as yoga, meditation, or swimming. Health Question & Answer

Hi. The answer above mine regarding stress was right on the money. I'd like to add that it may relieve you to monitor your heart yourself with a blood pressure/pulse check. There are free machines at many pharmacies, or you could purchase a home machine relatively cheaply. It won't help your symptoms in any way, but it can be a relief to have confirmation that your blood pressure and pulse rate aren't out of control and likely to kill you. I had a bad reaction to medicine recently and was certain that I was going to die. I was in agony, but was greatly relieved when they did an EKG and said "normal sinus rhythm". You can handle anything as long as you're sure it's not going to kill you, right.? Health Question & Answer
