If I was ovulating at the time of being tested for Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, would my hormones read normal?!

Question: If I was ovulating at the time of being tested for Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, would my hormones read normal.?
I didn't get my period for 6 months, then one day I felt something pop, followed by extreme pain and cramping for hours to the point where I could no longer breathe. After this, I saw my doctor immidietly, got a blood test, and then I got my period about a week after the "pop" (I believe this to be a cyst rupturing in an ovary.) When I went to see my doctor for my results, she told me that I did not have Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome and that the tests said that I was ovulating, although my testosterone was slightly high. She also said that my FSH to LH ratio was 1.2, when it needed to be somewhere above 3.5 to have the syndrome. After getting this period, I didn't get another period for another 3 months, so my problems were definitely not solved. I have ALL of the symptoms for this syndrome, so I was wondering if the fact that I was ovulating when the tests were taken would change my hormone levels, specifically my FSH to LH ratio, as opposed to if I would have taken the test when I wasn't ovulating and the cysts were still present. Any information would be greatly appreciated.Health Question & Answer

Answers:
You could try and ask your doctor if you are able to get another test done for the hormones for FSH, LH, Progesterone, Testosterone, Estrogen, Prolactin. I put all of these tests down as the prolactin will even indicate if there are any other problems other than the Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. If you felt a pop, and then excrutiating pain, there is obviously something wrong with the cycle.

It is very strange how you wouldn't get a period after three months after this problem. I would go back to the doctor, and ask her if you could have those tests again, and then also the prolactin test which will also show some answers as well possibly.

Hope that this helps.Health Question & Answer
