Going to BOOT CAMP with ASTHMA... ADVICE PLEASE!!?!
Question: Going to BOOT CAMP with ASTHMA... ADVICE PLEASE!!.?
Hi, I was at MEPS the other day for my physical, and totally lied about my medical condition. My sort of asthma is that I will need my inhaler on me all through boot camp, and I am wondering in how the heck I will be able to do that with out any drill instructor finding out. I am not the type to be using it for every type of movement I will do but I simply just need it at hand. I am also wondering when you arrive at boot camp do they check your pockets when changing clothes to see if you have an inhaler on you.? Can I get a waiver so that I am able to have my inhaler on me at all times.? Please get at me! ....

I was in boot camp in 1987. They did not check pockets but, physical education clothes don't have pockets. There is sick call and if you go there I am sure you can get what you need however, if it is pretty serious there is a possibility of getting the boot I suppose. My friend in the army had asthma and I remember her having an attack in Korea during regular duty. Well she survived her whole tour of duty but, I did not meet her until after boot camp so I don't know what she did at that time.Health Question & Answer
