Question: What are my odds of a recurrence.? I had basal cell carcinoma last Feb. and had it removed..?
I worry every day that I'm going to get more skin cancer.? I find more and more moles appearing, and have noticed that from bug bits I scar differently :( I'd love to hear from anyone who has had this, and what life has been like after.Health Question & Answer

I had basal cell cancer removed 2 years ago. You can't let it "own" you. I go to my dermatologist every 6 months and every time they've found something they want to remove and biopsy. Most of them have come back normal, one came back precancerous. Basal cell is the least dangerous of all the skin cancers. Really about the worst it can do is disfigure you and if you're vigilant and watch your skin and go in regularly for check-ups, its going to be caught before it gets too bad.

I have a couple spots that I watch and kind of worry about, but I just make sure to point them out to my dermatologist at my next check-up.

Best of luck to you, just try not to worry too much. Your odds are higher since you've had one occurrence but it doesn't necessarily mean you're guaranteed to have it again. Health Question & Answer

well it can come back if you don't take precautions. but even with precautions its best to watch any moles for changes in color, size or shape as a non dangerous mole you have had could become dangerous if it changes. although basil isn't as dangerous as melanoma or even squamous cell it shouldn't be taken lightly. i have had many removed and have many more that i have to watch. some of which i am probably going to have to have removed soon. The sad part is i have always used sunscreen yet i still have them, some in spots that the sun has never touched. so genetics has a bigger part in it than dermatologist would like you to believe. i know, i'm in the esthetics's field.Health Question & Answer

reoccurence is common. Especially in other spots. Get your checkoups as often as your doctor thinks.Health Question & Answer
