Cancer - It has returned twice now... It's always going to return isn't it?!

Question: Cancer - It has returned twice now... It's always going to return isn't it.?
My mother was diagnosed with ovarian cancer around 5 years ago, since then she has been treated twice and both times went away for about 8months - 20months before it returned again...

It has just returned again and she is now having more treatment.

If it has returned twice... is she ever going to get the all clear.?
I don't really need answers like 'talk to her about it' because we are pretty open about it all, i'm more looking for someone else's experience or scientific knowledge about whether it's still possible to get an all clear... Health Question & Answer

I'm so sorry to hear that.

The human body is such a strange, sad thing. You never know what is going on inside it, do you.?

I have a coworker who is battling with cancer. She first fought ovarian cancer, then breast, cervical, skin and now endometrial cancer. She keeps getting punched in the face with this horrible disease, but she bounces back up and punches right back.

It could come back. It might go away forever. If you and your mom choose to give up, you'll never know, though, will you.?

I'm not going to tell you to talk to her about it. I'm going to tell you to talk to her with the doctor. Then go to another doctor for a second opinion. Do some research -- go out there on the web and start digging. Get specifics. What kind of cancer does she have, exactly.? What stage.? What drugs has she taken, how much and for how long.?

It's going to be a long, exhausting battle, but you're going to have to be strong for your mom.Health Question & Answer

It is certainly possible that she will beat the cancer, although it sounds quite agressive, it may be more appropriate to say that if its gone twice then it can be kept under control again. The key thing is to hope that the cancer doesn't spread, if it is one place it is managable, if it spreads to many (hard to reach) places then that would not be good news but there is always hope with new and more precise treatments and techniques becoming available as technology and research advances. Good luck to you and don't lose hope.Health Question & Answer

I'm sorry to hear about your mother.
The difficulty with ovarian cancer is that it is commonly a recurring cancer which recurs every subsequent time earlier than the previous. The treatment each time would be chemotherapy centered mainly, unless it starts becoming resistant, and then it becomes not treatable with present chemotherapeutic options.
Keep your and your mothers spirits high and hope some breakthrough research may come through and help.

"is she ever going to get the all clear.?"

Yes and no. She will be all clear if all the cancer cells are killed by the treatment, unless it develops independently again. Unfortunately, your doctor can not accurately tell you if the cancer is completely gone, so even though she might never get it again, she will always need checkups to make sure it hasn't returned.Health Question & Answer

the truth is a bummer my friend and it's difficult to answer your question unless it is a heartless answer.

? Don't believe all the hype. Cancer is the biggest money making industry in the world after oil.

More people make money out of cancer than people who die from it. More people die from taking chemotherapy that those who do not. Not only does it kill cancer cells (tempory) but it also kills your good cells.

But then threes so much money to be made out of chemotherapy so why would the government tell you about a cure.

Cancer has been around so long now and is reaching epidemic proportions. Think about it, they can supposedly put three stooges on the moon and return them safely without a scratch in the 1960's but yet nearly 60 years later and all the modern technology, scientists and millions of funding they cant find a cure.? Yeah right!

They want you sick, threes no money to be made if you
