slept with a shady guy over a year ago and haven't had anything unusual since then but im just wondering how possible or likely it is that I actually did catch something thats dormant now and it will end up showing itself years down the road.?

There are "carriers" of all viruses. Meaning you can have no symptoms and still carry and pass the disease to others. Some diseases may have signs you barely notice.
You should be getting annual exams and pap smears and be tested at the same time. Always get tested before starting a relationship and especially after relationships end.
Viruses don't typically remain dormant for years. Just go get tested please so you can have peace of mind.

Symptoms show up after skin to skin contact in about 3 days of exposure to a person with herpes.
If you're not sure, you should go to the doctor, and have the sores cultured for Herpes.
While you're at it, you should have a complete STD check. There are other STDs that you might worry about that don't show any symptoms for years. Health Question & Answer
