Assuming you were tested under the guidance of a physician they shoud be able to give you some guidance. You didn't say how old you are, but generally it's related to type 2 diabetes which is generally found in older individuals. I did see a TV special where pre-diabetes in younger children was reversed by weight loss, improved diet and regular exercise. Strenuous exercise tends to increase blood sugar levels. If you are overwieght and out of shape you can imporve your chances by losing the weight, improving your diet to reduce (not eliminate carbs) increase fruit and vegetables and protein.

Another good idea would be to get yourself a testing kit and start watching your blood sugar on a regular basis to see what food/activities might be impacting it negatively.

As another contributor suggested you should get some professional advice, but pre-diabetes is a warning about life syle. You have a chance to reverse it or delay it if you take serious action now.

I am struggling with the same issue. But I have had a sedate lifestyle because of my job and was overweight. I've since lost about 20 lbs and still have some to go. I did this by watching what I eat and getting regular exercise...I'll be retesting again in a month...and I remain positive that this will have had a positive impact on my blood sugar levels.

When you took your fasting glucose test, you should not eat or drink anything for at least 8 hours, some say 12 hours. You should probably not exercise before the test either as that will affect blood glucose levels. Fasting is to simulate your waking blood glucose level under standard conditions and exercise will impact that.

Yes, absolutely. So, actually, just the opposite. The more we exercise, the lower our blood sugar. Got for it!!

If you exercise often (preferably daily), and eat a medium to low carb diet with mostly natural foods, chances are, you can avoid the disease completely. I'm 56 and was diabetic for over 5 years when I stumbled upon this simple concept.... keep the weight down, stay active, and eat the foods our bodies were designed for. Since then, I have eliminated my need for drugs.Health Question & Answer

You either have disbetes or you don't. No such thing as pre or borderline diabetic. If you are a diabetic, exercise and a healthy diet would be good for you so I don't see any reason why you couldn't play sports but listen to your doctor.Health Question & Answer

Your fine. A normal blood sugar is anywhere between 80 and 120. Train all you want. Exercise is good for you and will prevent diabetes.Health Question & Answer

I think you need to take a diabetes education class. Health Question & Answer
