Prostate cancer... genetics?!

I had prostate cancer at 63, however while taking my treatments I met men in their mid to late 40s who had prostate cancer. I also found that the key to early detection is have tests annually from a Urologist .. that is how mine was caught and i caught it early and am fine now.. The other thing I learned was that having a low PSA doesn't necessarily mean you dont have prostate cancer. I met men who's psa was like 2.7 or so who had prostate cancer. The way they found it was that their psa had been lower and had increased over the last two tests... so the key is if your psa starts increasing get a biopsy ... my psa had increased from 2.5 to 4.5 over about 18 months.. but like I said I met guys who had much lower psas but they had cancer.. I had mine treated with proton radiation at loma linda university medical center in loma linda california.. they have a great website called Proton Bob if you have any interest.. it tells about prostate cancer and about proton radiation.. If you go there read the patient testimonials... and you'll see how sold former patients are on proton radiation.. it has little to no side effects and a 90 % cure rate.. its great. There is nothing to being checked.. beats the hell out of dieing!!!!! personally if i were in your situation Id start getting checked annually at about 40 years old.. just my opinion...Health Question & Answer
