What to do when you can't get help & feel like giving up?!

Question: What to do when you can't get help & feel like giving up.?
My husband was diagnosed with Degenerative Disc Disease in May of this year after a year of back pain. So far we've tried a chiropractor, physical therapy, TENS unit, epidural spinal steroid, muscle relaxers, and anti-imflamatories. He's seen 4 different doctor's, none want to put him on prescription pain medication but advise against a spinal fusion surgery. This "disease" has changed my husband so much that he isn't even the same person anymore. He's always in a irritated mood, says things he doesn't mean and talks about committing suicide. I just don't know what to do anymore. It seems that none of the doctor's believe that he is in as much pain as he is because he's "too young" for back problems (he's 23). He didn't injure himself; this was a gradual wearing of his discs from the line of work he's done since he was 15 (manual labor--helping relatives do construction & then doing construction/labor jobs since he was 18).

It's tearing our marriage apart.

I need advice on how to handle this situation not only for my husband; but for our children and myself as well.

Any advice is greatly appreciated. Health Question & Answer

I am sorry about your husband. cant really give you any answers but my step-dad is 51 and mum is 56. My step-dad has polio had it since he was baby. The pain has got worse throughout the years and my mum is fed up too. My dad needs a knee replacement but they wont do it till he is 60. He is on 3 different lots of painkillers from docs but you can get things like co-codamol from chemist thats the painkillers and he has sleeping tabs cause the pain keeps him up but you can also get things in chemist to help you sleep. My dad has got so bad now that he needs a wheelchair and no one can provide it and they have no money. I hope that helps with the medication. As for your relationship what about the both of you see a counsillor together. Good luckHealth Question & Answer
