I have an atrial septal defect and lately I've been having pretty much constant chest pain with shortness of breath. I have a doctors appt at the end of the month but coult this be serious.?Health Question & Answer

First how old are you now and how was this condition first identified. Were you having chest pain or shortness of breath. Have you had a cardiac workup such as ecg, bloodwork or echocardiogram.? Who diagnosed this or has it been present since birth and progressively gotten worse.? If you are having constant chest pain with shortness of breath get into emergency tonight. They need to reexamine you and reassess you tonight, The Dr. that you seeing at the end of the month what is his specialty.?The emergency Dr.can let him/her know about your situation and most likely will see you sooner. have you been working out more than usual.? or are you stressed.? because sometimes stress on your mind makes a stress on your heart. which causes shortness of breath.
