Question: Is it allergies or is it a cold.?
I'm constantly having coughing fits, itchy and watery eyes, swollen tongue, and congestion.

Is this an allergic reaction or just a bad cold.?

One of the best ways to decide is to take your temperature. If it is elevated it is not an allergy. Allergy never causes fever. Now that you are at school, you are in a different environment. It could be that your new place has more mold or dust mites than your old place. I'm going to load you up on links to read. You are in college...you should be used to reading!!!! The first is an article that takes you symptom by symptom about how to tell the difference between allergy, cold and the flu. The second is an article on dust mites. You have em, face it, they may even be what is making you feel bad. The third is for this stuff that you can use to wash your sheets (yes even people in college should wash their sheets each week) to get rid of the mites. If it is a cold, you will be better in 7 to 10 days so hang in thereHealth Question & Answer

It sounds more like a cold, but it could be allergies. Try treating the symptoms for a cold and see if it improves. If it doesn't, then you are more likely to have an allergy. See your doc if it persists more than a week.Health Question & Answer

Itchy eyes are usually the only tip-off that it is allergies. Colds don't cause your eyes to itch. Read more at www.webmd.com and www.medlineplus.comHealth Question & Answer
