actually, he probably will not qualify, mainly because diabetes is ultimately controllable. It takes a lifestyle change, it takes perserverance, but ultimately with education and effort, it IS completely controllable, if his is out of control, it's because he isn't putting enough effort into controlling it, and that isn't a disability, that is denial, and refusing to make needful changes. I know it isn't easy, I am diabetic myself, but I know it can be done.Health Question & Answer
If his diabetes is not in control, he needs more intensive management not a check from social security. Sitting and watching daytime tv will not get his glucose in better control.
He needs a new doctor with new ideas and the help of a certified diabetes educator and a dietician. However he is managing his diabetes is not working. He should take a different combination of medications, get a continuous glocose meter, or insulin pump.

yes, he's probally eligible. He will have to get documentation from his doctor(s). Then file and they will deny, because they always do on the first time...so you have to keep appealing eventually, he will get it. It is a long frustrating ordeal...good luckHealth Question & Answer
