A viral infection has to run its course. It usually takes 10-14 days before it is gone. Antibiotics do not cure viral infections, only time does. You should drink plenty of liquids, take Vitamin C tablets, 500-2000 mg. a day, and there are also chewable Vitamin C tablets that you can dissolve in your mouth which helps to heal the throat, use Ibuprofen such as Advil or acetaminophen such as Tylenol for pain or fever, gargle with warm salt water at least 3 times a day, eat nutritious meals, especially chicken soup or broth, and get plenty of rest until you feel well. As far as going outdoors or keeping your body cool probably makes no difference, unless, you exhaust yourself, which you shouldn't do. And, you need to stay away from other people as much as possible to avoid infecting them, too. The other main thing is to wash your hands, especially if you cough on them. Good luck. I hope you feel better soon.Health Question & Answer
