Question: Uninsured with an Eating Disorder...How to Get Help.?
Several people I know have eating disorders...they are all adults (one of them is my sister). Several of these friends want help, but do not have medical insurance to pay for the very expensive treatment centers. I know that help is necessary for these friends to get well, but they can't afford it. What do they do.? The centers won't take you if you can't pay...I think it is horrible. People who need help can't get it because the cost of care is so high and they don't have insurance. I am afraid at least one of my friends is going to die very soon if she does not get help. Look up anonymous type programs for your particular disorder. They are everywhere and do not cost anything. If you're in school, make an appoitment with your counselor to find help. That may be tough since so much has been cut back in schools in spite of all the talk of improving schools. Insist on getting help. Taxes have paid for it.Health Question & Answer
