I had an endoscopy last month and the actual proceduare was only about 10 min because it was normal. The only prep is 8 hr fasting before you have it done. Depending on how busy they are at the time will determine how long it takes for them to check you in. Forms to sign, anesthesiologist will talk to you before, an IV started, reviewing your medical history, etc. I was out completely, I've heard others had a local where they were kind of aware but, pain free. This was my 4th one and I've never had problems with the anesthesia, etc. Good Luck.Health Question & Answer

I had one about 2 years ago now. It is so easy. They put an iv in and then you just wait until they take you back. The procedure takes 15-20 minutes, but it also depends on if biopsies are done or not. also depends on the hospital, but you can usually go home after about an hour. You can't have anything with seeds for about 2-3 weeks. I was completely out for mine, so I remember nothing.Health Question & Answer

the endoscopy procedure usually only takes a few minutes. they give you an IV and medication for comfort. you usually have oxygen in your nose and a funny mouth guard thing. the exam lasts about 15-20 minutes but its unlikely you'll remember anything. usually the doc can tell you results as soon as as you are awake enough from the sedatives.Health Question & Answer
