will diabetes affect my new liver or bring back my old disease.?
and what is having diabetes like.?.? will i urinate and drink less while being treated for diabetes.?Health Question & Answer

Answers:
Having diabetes, when controlled, will not cause you to urinate more or less, or to drink more or less. If you blood sugar level is particularly high or low then you may be really thirsty or may need to urinate more frequently. If you have diabetes, you will need to be very mindful about what you eat and when you eat. Carbohydrates are a particular issue and your doctor may recommend limiting your carb intake. Diabetes complications do not normally include liver disease. You will have to work with your transplant doctor and endocrinologist to determine how diabetes may affect your liver disease. Specifically, will there be issues because you will be on anti-rejection medications.?Health Question & Answer

It depends on what TYPE of diabetes you're looking at. If you needed a new liver because your diet and weight, then the Diabetes will require you to learn new eating habits and an exercise plan. If you need a new liver for other reasons, Diabetes doesn't normally adversely affect that organ so it could be something unrelated.

There is a lot of guessing here because you don't give much information. The American Diabetes Assocation has a lot of information if you want specifics and your doctor should refer you to someone (a Certified Diabetic Educator, or CDE, or an Endocrinologist who is a Doctor of glands, basically) who can help you manage things once you find out.
