I've had heart burn for a month why?!

Question: I've had heart burn for a month why.?
For about a month I've been getting heart burn off and on and today it hasn't stopped at all.My grandma and mother told me that is most likely to be caused from my anxiety because i have high anxiety and I don't take medicine for it because it does nothing besides different side effects.I before would drink lots of pepsi throughout a day and now I've slimmed down on drinking pepsi to drinking more water.I'm just wondering if it is my anxiety that is causing this and what could i do.? Thanks and I'll give best answer!Health Question & Answer

Well, of course, the first questions to ask are "WHAT HAVE YOU TRIED , TO ALLEVIATE IT.?" AND "WHAT WAS THE RESULT.?"

Until you can tell us more, there's not much anyone can tell you, is there.? Heartburn is often the symptom of un-relieved anxiety and stress, but not always. In your case it probably is, and your fizzy drink habit is not helpful.

The cure may not be instant, and this is because your digestive system may have developed a condition that may take time to get rid of..
As a start, just stop the Coke drinking, and if you're really thirsty, drink milk, orange or apple-juice, or water but in moderation. And see what happens when you take plain, ordinary anti-acid indigestion or heartburn relievers from your plain, ordinary over-the-counter pharmacist. That will be a start, and you can take it from there.

If it doesn't work, then that's the time to ask your doctor for advice as to the next step. It could be stress- relievers, investigation for ulcers, ..- whatever. But the right thing is treat it as minor, and begin at the beginning, and see what simple treatments do. Chew a couple of REMEGEL pastilles, -one before, and one after a meal for instance. You chew them just like gum, and they disappear in seconds, like chewy candy. And you can get flavored ones.
They're harmless, effective, and used by billions of people and probably will be the simple cure
Good luck

EDIT. Right, that's a beginning. We know it's not simple indigestion. The next step is something with a different kind of action from ant-acid pills. It works not by neutralizing the stomach acid but preventing it from being over-produced.
In UK it's available without prescription, and is sold as "ZANTAC" in several forms. My preferred way of taking it is dissolved in water in the form of effervescent tablets.

If you're not in the UK you should be able to get a prescription from your doctor.Health Question & Answer
