Can I put clorox on my staph infection?!
Question: Can I put clorox on my staph infection.?
I work in a nursing home, and came up with a nasty staph infection. I am on antibiotics. I was curious and wiped the area with chlorine bleach, and the white towel turned orange, I am guessing that is the staph, although it really isn't gold now is it.? Is this okay to continue doing.?Health Question & Answer
Answers:
NO !
do NOT put bleach on your skin - it's a great way to kill your skin, and the fibroblasts that are trying to heal your wound!
The REAL treatment for a staph furuncle is to have a doctor incise and drain it -- this will make it resolve immediately. Antibiotics are really not very helpful. Over the long haul, they make the condition come back again and again.
Alas, I digress -- the main point here is NEVER PUT BLEACH on you wound. No wound care expert in the country would ever suggest this.
