Can we laugh at cancer?!

Question: Can we laugh at cancer.?
Is it funny to lose your breasts.? Am I crazy to have humor when I lose my hair.? Should I ignore the giggles while receiving chemo.? What if I nudge someone and sneak a smile, even though I have no eyebrows.? Is it inappropriate.? Don't be offended, it beats waxing!Health Question & Answer

My husband and I joked our way through my breast cancer. That's how we survived it. Everyone handles stress in their own way, humor is how we do it. I'm sure the doc thought we were mental as we sat in his office and were tossing breast implant samples back and forth, commenting on how they felt, etc. My husband came up with the brilliant idea of putting a musical button on the implant when they did the reconstruction so when you pushed it, it would play "You are my sunshine!" I had to veto the idea but it was a good laugh. You survive any way you can and look for the good in every bad. I got rid of my bib boobs! I chose to be a smaller size for the implant and insurance paid for the good breast to be the same size as the implant. Shopping for a bra is fun again.Health Question & Answer

Of course you can laugh at cancer. You can do whatever you want. And sometime in your life (and it will happen) when someone you love is dying from cancer, you can look over at them on their death bed and have a good chuckle. I'm sure they'd really appreciate that. Just remember when it happens, you remember what you posted on here.

do whatever you want to get through your treatments! as long has you are not hurting anyone else, keep laughing. My last surgery (8 inch incision on side of head) was near halloween last year so I kept joking that I already had my halloween mask.
