When is taking Prednisone, considered too long of treatment?!

Question: When is taking Prednisone, considered too long of treatment.?
I have been on prednisone for over 3 weeks now, started out a course of 5 days at 60mg a day. Then Dr put me on 40mg x's 4 days,30mg 3xday,20mg 2 days, back up to 30 mg x4days, then tapedering off, but was told they may up it again back to 50 or 60mg.

Anyone ever have problems while on prednisone, because i am peeing alot, ALOT(every 15 to 30 mins). also, cant sleep at night, muscle and joint pain are crazy right now. Oh and recent blood test showed my WBC to be extrememly high and lymphs and eso's to be very low. Please, im worried. HELP!Health Question & Answer

I was on prednisone continually for over 2 years at doses around 200 mg. Seriously. It sucked, but I'm alive now and am so appreciative of it. Your side effects sound normal, but it's always good to double-check with your doctor's nurse. A quick phone call can take care of that.

My personal belief is that I'd rather take prednisone than be dead. So, I'm willing to take it as long as my body needs it.

Take care and best of luck to you!Health Question & Answer

If you have any concerns talk to your doctor, 3 weeks really isn't that long compaired to alot of people that have been on prednisolone, personally I have been on and off it for 10 years, and only the last time I was put on it in may did I ever have any side affects, if your genuinely worried talk to your doc.Health Question & Answer
