I need some help...my doctor is telling me to go to work...?!
Question: I need some help...my doctor is telling me to go to work....?
however I have been told my various other people that if you are sick with mono you should remain home. Which is the truth.? My doc does not think it's reasonable to stay home from work for a month...Health Question & Answer
Answers:
it does not take a month to get over mono. you do need to rest. ask your dr to put you on light duty for about a week. you should be fine by then.Health Question & Answer
Did you pay the doctor.? What are you paying him for if you don't trust his answers.? Do the people telling you to stay home have his degree.? Mono is transmitted by saliva - don't kiss the people at work or allow them to drink after you and you will be fine. You may be tired - just plan on getting some extra rest after work. Or you could pay another doctor and another until you get one who will allow you to stay home. Health Question & Answer
Your doctor is right.
go back to work right now.
there is NO benefit, and actually a great deal of harm from staying at bed rest.
I have seen many people who are in HORRIBLE shape after their doctors have told them incorrectly to stay in bed for a month -- that's absolutely ridiculous.
I've answered similar questions in here many times - shouldn't be too hard to find with a search. You cannot give your mono to the people at work because they already have it -- well, at least 90% of them do. You were just unlucky that you did not get your infection as a small baby, as most of us do, but instead you were unlucky enough to wait until adulthood.
With mono -- you should not restrict your activity at all , with one exception. If your spleen is enlarged, you should avoid contact sports until it returns to normal size.
You have a GOOD doctor - and that is rare.
buy him a beer. And then start listening to his advice.

If he has you on certain medications than you should be fine, mono isn't as horribly infectious as we used to think it was. Be sure to double check with your doctor though. Health Question & Answer
