Question: Ate a jalepeno and now my lips are really red.?
Im not allergic or anything its jus ta burn. but my lips hurt really bad and now my lips are red. how long wil they be red because it really looks like i'm wearing lipstick.Health Question & Answer

Your lips are probably red because they are dry and the jalapeno juices can cause extra burning to areas that are dry. Rinse a wash cloth in cool, not cold, water and place it on your lips for a while. Once the burning stops put some lip moisturizer on your lips. It is nothing to scoff at, a jalepeno burn can really hurt. You may even want to call your doctor's after hours for advice. However, you can 'google' jalepeno burn treatment' and get some advice that way.
I suggest that if you have worsening pain, burning, swelling, that you just mosey on over to emergency and see what they can do for you. Good luck, and please...no more jalepenos!!!!
I did find this one on the internet:
1. Soaking my hands in cold milk for 4-5 mins.
2. I also made a thick paste with baking soda and milk, which I applied in a thick coat after taking my hands out of the milk.
3. Let that dry for about 15-20 minutes.
4. Scrub mixture off and start from step 1 again.
I did this about 4-5 times (relief started with the first application) and then left the last coat on all night and washed my hands this morning. My fingers are still tender (and visibly red and a bit swollen, but the baking soda and milk provided great relief. Without them, I'm sure I would not have gotten a bit of sleep.

FYI Allergies to a frequent food can develop at any time with out warning. Try taking an otc anti-histamine. If the irritation last more than a couple of days. seek medical attention. Health Question & Answer
