Why can't a person taste flavors when he/she has a stuffy nose?!

Question: Why can't a person taste flavors when he/she has a stuffy nose.?
I'd like to know why we can't "taste" foods/flavors when we have a stuffy nose from a bad cold, sinus infection, etc. The same thing happens if I hold my nose and try to taste food - there is no taste. What does our sense of smell have to do with our taste buds.? Health Question & Answer

Answers:
Because what a lot of people dont realize is that our taste comes a lot from our nose. Believe it or not. I saw a thing on tv where they took this wine expert and he thought his nose had nothing to do with it, they proved him wrong. Your nose has a lot to do with taste, but not all of it. But have you ever smelled something so strong you thought you could taste it.?Health Question & Answer

This link explains it very well and is quite interesting.
