5 year old boy with frequent urination and irritation under foreskin?!

Question: 5 year old boy with frequent urination and irritation under foreskin.?
M 5 year old son had an infection or irritation under his foreskin for a couple of weeks which the DR said should just clear up naturally Then about 5 days ago he started needing to urinate constantly - at times he is going to the toilet, walking back to the lounge and then straight back to the toilet. It does not appear to hurt him when he goes to the toilet and he is only passing a trickle of unine after the initian urinaton (if any at all). We went to the DR 2 days ago and the dipstick revealed no UTI so he assumed it was an infection in the tip of the urethra and prescribed amoxil. He has been taking this for 48 hours with no improvement at all - still running to the toilet, still fiddling with his willy. and I thought antibiotics should show improvement in 24 hours. Any ideas of what this could be.? Should I be going back to the DR right away or leave it a little longer.? Thanks so much =]Health Question & Answer

ok, i am 13, i had this about his age, i just got rid of it naturally, washing may help, i never really made a big deal about it. He probably has it worse than i did, anyway nothing to worry about i am fine now, just tell him to hold a little longer before he goes. antibiotics should help i expect.Health Question & Answer

It may not be but you may want to have his A1c checked for diabetes. Diabetes would explain the frequent urination and also the foreskin irritation. Diabetec men (boys) can develop fungal infections under the foreskin due to increased sugar and heat in the area. Hopefully it is not diabetes but it is something you can have checked.Health Question & Answer

try to increase his fluids and also, that irritation could be a simple yeast infection on his "willy". Or has anyone looked to see if this little guy has anything wrapped around his willy.? My son, at around that age got a long hair(don't know how he did it!!) wrapped around his and he had a heck of a mess. His daddy helped him wash and get it off and the irritaion cleared right up. We did apply a bit of antibiotic ointment as well. check it out.Health Question & Answer

Possibly early signs of diabetes.? Has he been drinking a lot. I still wouldn't rule out a UTI or kidney problem. NO! Do not circumcise at this age. It is too late, unless he is put to sleep. My dad's parents changed their minds at about age 3 and he still remembers it.Health Question & Answer

Get your kid circumcised, its a lot cleaner.Health Question & Answer

try a different dr. as a second opinion never hurts.Health Question & Answer
