Hi;
I was cleaning the toilet door on my job when I saw some partially dry blood on it. when trying to wipe it with a wet cloth I accidentally touch it with my index finger which had a fresh cut on it.
well if the blood was from a HIV + person will this put me at risk of contracting HIV.?

HIV only survives for a few minutes once it is outside the body, exposed to air. However, you could get Hep C this way, because Hep C can live on surfaces outside the body for up to 4 days.

Don't worry about it. HIV dies within seconds, minutes at the longest once outside the body. You would not get infected with it even if it was from an infected person. The fact that the blood was partially dry makes it more certain that the virus had been dead for a while. Health Question & Answer
AM I TO BELIEVE THAT YOU DON'T WEAR GLOVES WHILE CLEANING UP BLOOD OR TOILETS.? FILE A WORK COMP INCIDENT REPORT BECAUSE NOW YOU WILL HAVE TO BE TESTED AT INTERVALS FOR A YEAR. I GUESS YOU WONT GET EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH.
