Carpal Tunnel Syndrome what are the options?!

Question: Carpal Tunnel Syndrome what are the options.?
For the past 5 months I have had a pain in my wrist and I take IBprofen like its candy. I wear a brace to work (which it does not work anymore), I wear a brace to bed (which I end up throwing off in the middle of the night), and I ice my wrist every hour or so. I saw a doctor a week from last friday and told me to go see a specialist. I currently have an appointment with him, but what I was wondering is what options are there to take care of this.?Health Question & Answer

There is another option other than surgery. I have had severe Carpal Tunnel syndrome symptoms for over 10 years now, due to doing computer work for over 20 years.

We have our own First Aid office at work, and they recommended I see a Chiropractor for Cold Laser Therapy. I was skeptical about it at first, to be honest, because I'd been told I needed surgery on my wrist for any relief. I was doing the same thing you were doing - eating pain relievers of every kind like candy, and nothing was working. It was waking me up at night, and I was wearing a wrist brace at night to alleviate the pain. (Didn't help.)

I had about 6 appointments for the Cold Laser Therapy with my Chiropractor, and haven't had any pain since then, and I continue to do computer work all day at my job and am on the computer at night at home. You need to check into it - it may save you from having surgery. I was very pleased with the outcome.

Oh, and I had this done during the springtime of this year - and still haven't had any reoccurrence of the pain. Health Question & Answer

The goal of treatment for CTS is to reduce the swelling and pressure on the median nerve. Fortunately for most people who develop carpal tunnel syndrome, proper treatment usually can relieve pain, numbness and tingling, and restore normal function of the wrist and hand. Treatment may include the use of splints or braces, anti-inflammatory medications, cortisone injections or surgery.Health Question & Answer

i have had this problem for many years now. i have had surgery on my right wrist twice with some short term success, but it is now causing problems again and my right wrist is now playing up as well. i have a splint but it just annoys me. i don't really want anymore surgery.i have no good advice sorry.i think i have tried everything. i did find warmth rather then ice helped most thoughHealth Question & Answer

Surgery is the best option as it relieves the pressure on your median nerve (which goes under the carpal tunnel and is put under pressure).Health Question & Answer
