2 questions about my carpal tunnel release?!

Question: 2 questions about my carpal tunnel release.?
I had some nerve study tests done in hospital and they revealed that i had bi-lateral carpal tunnel syndrome-meaning i had it in both wrists. I was advised to have the right wrist operated on first as that was the worst one, so i had the surgery 7 weeks ago. I didn't have to get any physio done after the surgery, and the doc didn't say how long i had to stay out of work for, so after 4 weeks i returned to work. I work in a deli, so i'm constantly usin my hands, with lifting, chopping and lately, well since i returned i've felt like i'm putting strain on my wrist!! They second quetion isthat the doc told me i could ring up and make an appointment to have the left one done. But should i go ahead and get it done now, i've had no symptoms in my left, or should i wait until the pain gets badHealth Question & Answer

I had my right hand done in March and although it took the numbness that I got from eating, computer, pushing a buggy and anything else really that uses my hand, I still get some numbness at night but not nearly like before. It used to wake me up and hurt all the way up my arm.
I was suprised at how long it took for me to get the strength back in that wrist.
I'm umming and ahhing about getting my left done, probably more because I didn't realise how incapacitating it is not being able to use your hand but really it was never as bad as my right. I have been noticing it alot more recently.
I think I'm more likely to leave it til it gets a bit worse and I can hopefully have the op done at a more convenient time of the year (like a school holiday or something).
You should take it easy with your hand tho. You don't want to undo the healing process. Everyone heals at a different rate and although I've always considered myself to be quite a healthy person, I did find it a good 4 months before I could pick up the kettle and not be in any discomfort.Health Question & Answer

I think it is up to you! I had my right wrist done 2 years ago and decided it wasn't worth having the op on my left wrist because my right wrist - the one they told me was the worst one (like you) doesn't feel that much better! My right hand still seizes up if I hold something tight - like when I'm trying to stir the stew in a pan. The only symptom that has gone is the pins and needles in my hand and fingers. Good luck I hope you do better than I did!Health Question & Answer

I had both hands operated on at the same time. After I had no pain and as soon as I had my stitches taken out my hands were as good as new. If you are still experiencing pain or discomfort you should get back in touch with the doctor where you could also discuss him operating on your other hand. Good luck.Health Question & Answer
