Coeliac disease and low ferritin levels?!

Question: Coeliac disease and low ferritin levels.?
I recently had some blood tests for coeliac disease as my doctor thought i had a lot of symptoms for it. I haven't heard about the results but my doctor sent me a prescription for high dose ferrous sulphate as I have very low levels of ferritin. What I want to know is is it possible to still have coeliacs even if the blood test is negative (I'm aware you have to have a biopsy to confirm), and if not what is causing the low levels of ferritin. I take iron supplements anyway and I eat red meat occasionally, and lots of veg and pulses which contain it (I am a nutritionist so know what to eat). ThanksHealth Question & Answer
